VFD models that can use an expansion card:


Expansion cards are available for full EN500/EN600/EN650/EN607 series. This chapter introduces 9 kinds of expansion cards, respectively: 3 kinds of encoder PG card, 4 kinds of communication expansion cards, 1 type of water supply card, 1 type of 2 in 1 card.

Each main control board has only one expansion port, so a single inverter cannot install two or more expansion cards at the same time.

Introduction of expansion card types


Encoder PG card: ENC develops EN-PG01 (differential type), EN-PG02 (differential type), EN-PG03 (open collector type) 3 PG cards for photoelectric incremental encoders, the number of lines ranges from 0 to 10000. The output signal is divided into two types: the open collector type and the differential type. The collector type generally uses 24V voltage and the differential uses 5V voltage.


n EN-PG01: encoder for differential signal, the signal loop in the card is not isolated by optocoupler, and it is suitable for general electromagnetic noise environment.

n  EN-PG02: apply to differential signalencoder, the card signal loop has optocoupler isolation, adapt to strong electromagnetic noise occasions.

n  EN-PG03:  the encoder for the collector signal has an optocoupler isolation in the card signal loop to adapt to strong electromagnetic noise.

2. Profibus-dp communication card: ENC Company developed EN-PR01, EN-PR02 two Profibus-dp communication cards



Profibus is one of the international standards developed by SIEMENS and other companies. Profibus offers three types for different applications: Profibus-DP, Profibus−PA and Profibus −FMS. Profibus−DP uses optimized high-speed, low-cost communication carrier designed for communication between the automatic control system and the device fieldbus, meeting the real-time, stability and reliability requirements of distributed control systems; Profibus−DP allows for the formation of a single Master station or multi-master system with a high degree of flexibility.


n  EN-PR01 For VFD with power not more than 15kw (small connection-peg)

n  EN-PR02 For VFD with power more than 18kw(big connection-peg)

3. Can communication card: ENC company developed EN-CAN1, EN-CAN2 two types card


The CAN bus was developed by Bosch of Germany for on-board instrument data exchange. It is the earliest international standard fieldbus. The application now extends to process control, machine building, robotics and building automation. The industrial CAN bus can be used as a field device-level communication bus, which has high reliability and cost-effective advantage compared with other buses. Any node on the CAN network can be used as the master node to actively exchange data with other nodes. The design is flexible and easy to develop, the system performance is high, and the structure is simple that is easy to buy.


n  EN-CAN1  is the Canopen protocol, the drive parameter mapping address is defined by the Can bus standard EDS file;


n  EN-CAN2  is the Canlink protocol, the inverter parameter mapping address is defined according to our standard.

4. EN-SW4  Constant pressure water supply card: EN-SW4     


n  EN-SW4   The main application is in the case of EN500/EN600 constant pressure water supply which adopt 1 VFD to drive 4 pumps. The controller is connected to the main control board through the expansion card. The controller output has 8 relays, Each 2 relays form a group to control the water pump working under power frequency and frequency conversion respectively.

6. Profibus-PG two in one cardEN-PRPG01  

n  EN-PRPG01  Applicable to the PFOFIBUS-DP communication protocol of the host computer system, and the application condition of the encoder is also installed.
